Vintage MEdussa Victorian hinged canteen purse

What an unusual old purse this in the shape of a canteen with medussa ( or Medusa) and her snakes on the top front. THe brass is so rich in old patina that it is a deep dark color. Inside is a deep purple velvet which is in very good condition. I am not sure if the braided strap is original but it appears to be old as well. The width is 6" and the depth or thickness it 2 1/2". It has a very fancy closure and hinge ( see photos) and is such a wonderful looking purse. There are two layers of ornate metal work on the front and medusa seems to be standing guard over it to protect it. IT has a few light dents, but I think it is because it is hand wrought and not machine made. IT closes snugly ( takes a little to get it there, but it closes fine and the clasp keeps it closed. The fancy hinge is very well made and works well. And now for the tedious part that you probably already know: PLease remember that vintage & antique items are not mint, nor are they perfect but they sure are full of old history and charm. Vintage Galalith, Art Deco RED, RED, RED Rhinestone jeweled perfect little purse with compact and lipstick

This is a vintage egg-shaped, almost 1 inch wide, totally impractical stunner! The body of this compact purse has the outline of white flowers as well as tiny rhinestones to enhance it's "deco-ness!" The purse opens easily and reveals a tiny powder puff and a surprisingly excellent, round mirror. End-to-end, from the silk handle (ala- shoulder bag) to the silk tassel which hides in it's midst a perfectly formed lipstick case, "little red" is 19 inches long. The actual red Galalith body is 5 inches long. I assure you that I won't be heartbroken if none of these items sells! Notice how fabulous it looks in the grouping ( not included in this sale) with the long black gloves!
